CADIG's prospect model is designed to compare players developing in very different environments by combining age-adjusted production, league strength, role, scouting traits, transition value, development context and long-term projection.
A prospect-specific projection framework. pWAR is not presented as current NHL WAR; it is a CADIG estimate of future NHL value built from comparable development indicators.
The examples below show how CADIG can compare elite prospects whose value is created in different ways. Numerical pWAR outputs remain model placeholders until the underlying data model is finalized.
High-end offensive projection driven by puck skill, manipulation, vision and the ability to create advantages through transition. The model would heavily weight age-adjusted dominance and creation efficiency.
A strong pWAR case because production comes against professional competition at a young age. CADIG would emphasize age-versus-league difficulty, role, transition and creation rather than raw points alone.
Defense-first projection where pWAR should not over-reward scoring. Value comes from mobility, retrievals, defending, physical translation, professional-league experience and the probability of handling NHL defensive minutes.
The next expansion layer is a 10–15 player board spanning CHL, NCAA, SHL, Liiga, Slovak and Latvian development systems, allowing CADIG to identify comparable value across very different competitive environments.
The model should reward production differently depending on age, league quality and role, preventing junior production and professional production from being treated as equivalent.
